ACTIVITY GUIDE IS HERE!

    IT'S EASY TO REGISTER FOR OUR CLASSES AND PROGRAMS!
  • You may register in person or mail completed form and payment to:
    Alameda Recreation and Park Department, 2226 Santa Clara Avenue, Alameda, 94501.
  • Phone registrations accepted Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with MasterCard or VISA only. Please have your credit card and class activity number ready prior to calling (510) 747-7529.
  • Fax completed registration form with MasterCard/VISA, (510) 747-7566.

    CLASS CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY:
  1. In the event a class is cancelled by the Alameda Recreation and Park Department, you will receive a full refund.
  2. Cancellations initiated by the client must be requested a minimum of five (5) business days prior to the start of the program. Refunds will no longer be issued. You will receive credit less a $15 administrative fee which will be applied to your ARPD Account to be used for any future ARPD class or program.

School Pick-Up Times: 2:50-3:00 p.m.
Pick-ups are earlier on early dismissal days and modified days.


The Underground Teen Center is open to school kids currently in the 6th, 7th and 8th Grades after school for computers, games, homework help, sports activities, and a safe place to be with friends.

Transportation to THE UNDERGROUND is provided from Chipman, Lincoln, NEA and Wood Middle Schools in City of Alameda vehicles for a fee of $2 per trip (or you may wish to purchase a non-refundable Ride Pass for $20 for 10 rides). Participants are responsible for checking themselves in to the Teen Center Staff after school. NO LATE PICK UPS IF YOU MISS THE BUS! There will be NO pick-ups on Public School Holidays and AUSD Staff Development Days.

Participants must be registered before they will be allowed to ride in City vehicles. Pick-ups on school days only!

With a 4,000 sq. ft. day use lodge, Leland High Snow Play will have a huge supply of tubes to choose from along with awesome tows that will tow you up to the top of the Snowplay hill! With various terrains, we offer something for everyone! The facility lodge provides a snack bar, video games, pool tables, five indoor restrooms, a warm fire and a sun deck with plenty of tables and chairs overlooking the snow play area outside. ADDITIONAL LIABILITY FORM REQUIRED FOR THIS TRIP.

Be sure to bring warm clothing and prepare for the cold. Carry warm clothing; dress in layers in case it warms up. Wear dry boots/shoes, socks and sunscreen. Bring money for snacks and light dinner. Meet at The Underground (Veteran's Building - 2203 Central Avenue) - don't be late!

Do not bring electronic or sentimental items on the trip. ARPD is not responsible for teen's personal belongings or money. REFUNDS ISSUED ONLY IF ARPD CANCELS THIS TRIP DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS.

Do you enjoy working with kids?
Need to fulfill your community service requirement for school?

VOLUNTEER FOR THE ALAMEDA RECREATION AND PARK DEPARTMENT!
For Teens Who Will Complete 7th to 11th Grades


Teen Volunteers are needed to assist Recreation Leaders with youth programs and special events at our local RAP sites. During the summer, Volunteers are also needed to help with our Aquatics Program at the swim centers as well. This is a perfect opportunity to gain valuable work experience for future employment opportunities. SPACES ARE EXTREMELY LIMITED. SIGN UP EARLY!

Once your application has been reviewed, you will be contacted to schedule an oral interview. If you are accepted into the program, you must attend a mandatory volunteer training (listed below).

DEADLINE: All applications are due no later than two weeks prior to the training date(s) - see below and are subject to space availability. Not all applicants will be guaranteed an interview. LATE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE PROCESSED.

Operation Green Sweep
For Teens Currently in 6th - 12th Grades

Operation Green Sweep is a volunteer program for teens who want to earn community service hours by assisting with the maintenance of our City parks and community centers. Teens will be supervised while cleaning up various local parks, light trash removal and learning a thing or two about our parks and surrounding environment.

  • Fridays, April 16 to May 28, 2010
  • 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Meet at the Teen Center, 2203 Central Avenue, Room 170
  • Cost: $45 - covers the uniform shirt, training manual and transportation

NOTE: If you miss more than two days, you may be dropped from the program without earning your hours. Please bring a snack, wear work clothes (no skirts or open-toed shoes) and sunscreen.

Teens are expected to be prompt, make a short-term commitment, learn communication skills and learn to plan ahead. All volunteers must meet at the Veteran's Memorial Building to receive their assignments. Do not be late as transportation is provided to take teens to their designated sites.

2009-2010 Alameda Youth Committee (AYC)
For Teens in 6th - 12th Grades

The Alameda Youth Committee (AYC) is a team of Alameda Middle and High School students that serves the community in the city of Alameda. Our interest is to provide activities for teens. We attend weekly meetings to plan events geared towards teens, such as dances, sleepovers excursions, fundraising, etc. Our interest is to provide activities for teens.

What are the AYC Member Requirements?

  • A brief informal interview

  • Able to attend a minimum of two meetings a month
  • Be committed for special projects and events
