CERT Participation Activities

Although anyone who lives or works in the City of Alameda may take the CERT training, not everyone chooses to become a Alameda CERT Team Member. The requirements for being a recognized Alameda CERT Team Member are; CERT Course completion, swearing in as a "Disaster Service Worker, and participating with Alameda CERT at least twice within a two year period.

On this page you will find links to opportunities for continuing education, hands on training, events, and other ways to volunteer with the Alameda CERT program through the City of Alameda Fire Department. Any of these activities count as participation.

You will also find the forms that you'll need to operate as a team in the event of a disaster; as well as roll sheets for team meetings and sign-in sheets for events that you may participate in.

This page has been developed to support "Alameda CERT Teams". If you would like to have something added to the page or would like to post your teams photos to the gallery or submit and article, e-mail Captain Sharon Oliver- soliver@alamedafire.org

Mission Statement

(PDF, 16Kb)

The Alameda Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program is the organizational umbrella for neighborhood teams of trained volunteers who live and/or work in the City of Alameda. Under the guidance of the Alameda Fire Department, with oversight from the Alameda CERT Executive Committee (ACEC), volunteers receive basic emergency response training, practice skills during neighborhood drills, and advocate neighborhood preparedness. Following a disaster, CERT volunteers provide aid and assistance to the limit of their training within coordinated relief operations to reduce the impact on their community. Alameda CERT responds to community needs with a sense of urgency, care, impartiality, and humane treatment for all inhabitants.
