Programs include:
- Together We Prepare
- Public education programs to assist citizens with personal preparedness.
- Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training.
- Community group presentations on personal preparedness and fire safety.
- Citywide Alert and Warning System (Siren Towers.)
- Disaster Registry Program.
- Support for the Amateur Radio Club of Alameda (ARCA.)
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
What plans have you made to endure the next big one? CERT teams are designed to work to assist themselves and their neighbors. Will someone be there to check on your family if you're away at work?
CERT team training is provided by Alameda Firefighters.
Personal Preparedness
Does your community group need a guest speaker? Consider inviting a member of the Alameda Fire Department or an American Red Cross volunteer to talk about fire safety or Disaster Preparedness.
Alert and Warning
The City of Alameda Alert and Warning System has six siren towers that are strategically located across Alameda.
The other important component of the system is Radio Alameda 1280 am.
Disaster Registry
The Alameda Disaster Registry Program is intended to provide a means to identify persons with specific disabilities who wish to be contacted after a major disaster. The registry will maintain a database of the participant's information to be made available to community volunteers so that they might provide assistance.
.
Amateur Radio Club of Alameda
Amateur Radio Club of Alameda (ARCA) is new and expanding component of the city disaster response team. The club meets monthly to provide training and develop plans to assist and augment disaster communications. New members are always welcome.
