Beverage container buyback centers conveniently located at major shopping centers
February 13, 2008; The City of Alameda reported the opening of a new bottle and can recycling center within Alameda. In addition to the buy-back center located in the Marina Village Shopping Center, there is a new center at Alameda Towne Centre near the Willow Street at Whitehall Place entrance.
The California State Department of Conservation, Division of Recycling, permits recycling centers throughout the state in order to provide residents with the opportunity to return their California Redemption Value (CRV) beverage containers. On July 1, 2007, the CRV for beverage containers was increased to five cents for containers less than 24 fl. oz. and ten cents for containers 24 fl. oz. or more.
Residents can redeem CRV beverage containers at the following locations and times:
- Marina Village Shopping Center (815 Marina Village Parkway)
Open: Mon, Tues, Thurs, Sat, Sun --10am to1pm and 1:30pm to 4pm
- Alameda Towne Center (523 South Shore Center)
Open: Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri, Sat --10am to1pm and 1:30pm to 4pm
The following grocery stores currently are required to redeem beverage containers within the store:
- Safeway (867 Island Drive)
Open: Every day, 6am to 12am
- Encinal Market (3211 Encinal Avenue)
Open: Monday through Saturday, 8am to 9pm, and Sundays 8am to 7pm
