The Public Works Department will hold a second Public Meeting to review and discuss proposed pedestrian access improvements on Fernside Boulevard between Encinal Avenue and Adams Street. This project is funded through the Caltrans Safe Routes to School Grant Program and Measure B Funds. The principal goal of the project is to improve pedestrian and bicycle access to Lincoln Middle School.
1. In-pavement flashing lights at the school crosswalk across Fernside Boulevard at San Jose Avenue;
2. Curb and sidewalk extensions (with landscaping, trees and irrigation) to replace the existing flexible orange traffic delineators;
3. Extension of bike lanes south of Encinal Avenue and associated restriping of lanes;
4. Elimination of the existing free right turn and the concrete median at the southwest corner of the Fernside Avenue/Encinal Avenue intersection; and
5. Wheelchair ramps.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide information in response to comments and questions raised at the first public meeting held March 30, 2004. The City welcomes your comments, suggestions and ideas on the project. Please plan to attend.
