City to Update Transportation Element
A key step in updating the City's transportation policies is updating the Transportation Element of the City's General Plan. The current General Plan was approved in 1991. Since that time, major changes have taken place in Alameda, primarily the closing of the former Alameda Naval Air Station. With other redevelopment projects such as Alameda Landing and the Northern Waterfront also in the works, sound transportation planning will be critical to maintaining and enhancing the quality of life in Alameda. For that reason the City is undertaking an update of the Transportation Element.
